Production Series: NASCENT

Production is one of the most important jobs In the music industry, and can vary from writing and arranging, to mixing and mastering. My love for music began with my ability to understand the importance of production, being that a beat is one of the most prominent elements of a song. Starting my production series, where I write multiple blogs about notable producers in our music world, I see it fitting to start with my one of my favorite producers that I discovered in my college years.

If you don't already have a love for "Nascent", I can guarantee you love some of the songs he has produced. Nascent, one of my top favorite musicians, is a notable producer from Chicago. Ending 2024 with 2 million listeners and 9.45 million streams, he is also a Grammy Award-winning Producer. I first discovered Nascent in 2020, but he has been working in the industry for over 10 years.

His album "Minus the Bullshit Life's Great" is a fantastic piece of work with many talented artists. The first track "Got Fired" is one of my favorite tracks. As artists, it can feel as if we're living double lives, working full corporate jobs while pursuing the art that fuels our soul. It is often when an artist considers going full throttle into their dreams and leaving their "money-maker", and "Got Fired" gives a releasing feeling of deciding to chase your dreams about all.

Throughout the album, some tracks give off a modern jazz feel, while others have more elements of hip-hop or even Lofi beats. This album, dropping In mid-2021, was my own personal introduction to the artists "Orion Sun" and "Jordan Ward". Nascent works with many talented artists on different scales of popularity, and as a producer he has put me on to many musicians.

His most recent album "DON'T GROW UP TOO SOON" is a beautiful, collaborative project that all should tap into. Like his other albums, these are produced tracks with various elements from many genres, and many talented artists featured. If I had to pick a producer whose brain I could pick and sit in the studio with, no questions asked... it would be Nascent.
