Artist Spotlight: Monaleo- Sexy Soulaan

I'm sure everyone has heard of the Wedding-Of-The-Year between Monaleo and Stunna4Vegas, but who is Monaleo?

This wedding not only inspired our youth black community, it brought a whole new light to the 2 as individual rappers. Stunna has been on the scene, and was a staple in my highschool playlists, but Monaleo has been gaining traction since 2021.

Monaleo's big princess-pink wedding went viral, along with her new single "Sexy Soulaan". It truly highlights black culture with verses that others wouldn't understand, highlighting her line "If you ain't black, stay the f*** out the business!" Honey on the tongue, lighting incense, dreaming about fish; others just wouldn't get the reference.

It is so important that we continue to push positive community among us, especially through our music, as music is one of the very important expression forms that brings us together. In Monaleo's song "We On Dat", she recorded it with all of her friends, a perfect way to include her community. Not only that, the video for "We On Dat" had noticeable spiritual hoodoo references. It's rare to see rappers highlight black spirituality in a positive light. Monaleo is a real intentional, spiritual, beautiful rapper and deserves her flowers!
